Calendar of Topics for Harvesting Wellness - 2012

Donna Dixon of Smoky Mountain Wellness is preparing topics for 2012.  Donna always checks blood pressures on the first Saturday
of the month.  In addition, there is another topic of wellness at the Harvesting Wellness Booth.  We look forward to 2012.

Local chefs come to the MFM monthly to teach the values of the good food located at the Maryville Farmers' Market. They shop at the MFM, cook and demonstrate for the customers, teaching them how to prepare healthy foods.
Recipes and food tips are given to the customers.

Harvesting Wellness makes an appearance at the MFM on the first Saturday of each month. Donna Dixon,
a Registered Nurse and Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Smoky Mountain Wellness, brings the topics of health, good eating and
exercise to the Market.  Each month has a special topic such as walking, sun protection, special recipes and more, teaching customers the essentials of good health.
Along with the topics, Donna also checks blood pressure on customers.    What better way to combine the fresh, local food of the
Maryville Farmers' Market than with a Wellness expert.

Blount County Master Gardeners are available on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month to provide answers to gardening questions.  They also have a children's craft activity that is related to gardening and teach the
children some aspect of plant science.

The music of the Maryville Farmers' Market is provided weekly by Rocky Branch Community Center, Inc. and gives entertainment to the MFM as well as highlighting the music of the region.
